THE RESIDENTIAL DOOR
Supportive housing for young mothers preparing for what comes next.
The Residential Door supports young mothers ages 18–25 who are pregnant or postpartum less than 14 months and navigating housing instability, crisis, or transition.
Mothers may bring children ages 5 and under.
Housing support is available through varying tracks, with lengths of stay up to one year. Each resident receives tailored programming based on her needs, goals, family situation, housing readiness, and next steps.
A mother may come to Nia Imani needing housing, but housing is only one part of the support. Residents may also receive help with care connection, transportation, food access, documentation, employment and education goals, childcare connection, financial capability, wellness, and transition planning.
Residential Door Eligibility
The Residential Door is designed for:
young mothers ages 18–25
mothers who are pregnant or postpartum less than 14 months
mothers navigating housing instability, crisis, or transition
Placement depends on intake, eligibility, current capacity, family needs, and the level of support required.
Tailored Housing Tracks:
Each resident’s housing track is based on her intake assessment, needs, goals, and readiness for next steps.
Tracks may vary in length and intensity, with housing support available for up to one year.
During that time, residents work with Nia Imani to build stability, connect to resources, and prepare for life beyond residential support.
